WCAG 2.1 Level AA

We strive to make the IM3270 website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This site follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA conformance level.

Accessibility Features

Keyboard Navigation

All pages include a "Skip to main content" link for keyboard users. All interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls) are reachable and operable via keyboard with visible focus indicators.

Screen Reader Support

We use semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels throughout the site. Navigation regions are labeled, decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology, and all images have meaningful alternative text.

Color and Contrast

Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Information is never conveyed by color alone.

Structure and Headings

Pages use a logical heading hierarchy with no skipped levels, making it easy to navigate by heading with assistive technology. Data tables include proper scope attributes for row and column headers.

The IM3270 Application

The IM3270 desktop application includes accessibility considerations such as keyboard-driven operation (essential for terminal emulation), configurable font sizes, and high-contrast color scheme options.

Known Limitations

Terminal emulation involves specialized screen content (3270 data streams) that may not fully translate to assistive technology. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of the application itself.
